Opportunity Overview

Amnesty International Australia

The Amnesty International Australia’s (AIA) International Issues Committee (IIC) is generally responsible for assisting and advising the National Board and members, and the wider organisation about AI Australia’s international engagement and contribution. It also advises the board on changes and developments within Amnesty International.

The IIC is looking for two passionate youth members (aged between 18 – 25) to join its team and act in the position of either youth delegate or reserve youth delegate for the 2025 Global Assembly and Asia/Pacific Regional Forum, which will be physical or virtual meetings. In their role, the youth members will help support the Global Assembly and Regional Forum delegation in their preparation and related consultation within/to AI Australia in the lead up to international/regional meetings. Other role expectations include:

  • Assist in consulting with AI Australia members about new policies proposed by the international movement
  • Develop draft policy briefs for the AI Australia National Board to assist in decision making
  • Attend bi-monthly meetings (or more frequent closer to global and regional meetings) with other members of the IIC and take actions accordingly
  • Reporting back to the membership on the Regional Forum and Global Assembly.
  • Act as a positive advocate for Amnesty International and upholding our Values and Behaviours Charter

Information for members seeking to become AI Australia’s Global Assembly delegate

The Global Assembly Youth delegate will represent the Australian section at the Regional Forum and Global Assembly in 2025. Regional Fora are typically held some time between March – May and Global Assemblies are held some time in July – August.
