The opportunity:
Why you might love this opp:
WhiteBox is bringing together a team to support disability enterprises to grow, evolve and create more opportunities for people with disability through business growth, transformation and innovation.
As a Manager, you'll be in the thick of that work.
You'll work alongside senior leaders across disability enterprises, social enterprises and partner organisations, helping them navigate complex decisions and turn ambitious plans into practical change. Sometimes that's helping shape a transformation roadmap. Sometimes it's guiding a leadership team through a difficult decision. Sometimes it's helping an organisation explore a new opportunity that could strengthen both commercial performance and social impact.
The work is varied, often ambiguous, and always grounded in real-world outcomes.
This is an opportunity to join at the beginning of this exciting work and can be based remotely with accessibility to Meanjin/Brisbane, Eora/Sydney or Naarm/Melbourne preferred so you can be a key part of our team. Occasional travel is required to support the relational nature of the work.
Why this role is different
Many strategy and transformation roles stop at recommendations.
This one doesn't.
You'll have the opportunity to stay close to the organisations, leaders and outcomes you help shape. You'll see ideas become action, plans become capability, and strategy become tangible impact.
If you enjoy helping organisations solve difficult problems and making sure good ideas actually get off the page, you'll likely find this work energising.
What's involved:
One week you're facilitating discussions with an executive team trying to balance commercial sustainability with ambitious growth plans. The next you're building a business case, analysing options and pulling together recommendations that will inform a board decision.
You might be supporting a disability enterprise to strengthen performance in an existing part of its business, helping another explore a new opportunity for expansion, or working alongside colleagues to design practical approaches to organisational change.
Across all of it, you'll be helping organisations move from questions to decisions, and from decisions to implementation.
The kind of person who succeeds here
You've probably built your career in consulting, strategy, transformation, business improvement, organisational development or a similarly complex environment.
You're comfortable bringing structure to ambiguity and helping others navigate complexity.
You know how to balance analysis with action, and you're just as comfortable facilitating a workshop or leadership discussion as you are developing a business case or recommendation.
Importantly, you recognise that successful transformation is rarely about having the smartest answer in the room. It's about creating clarity, building trust and helping people move forward together.
Experience in the for-purpose, disability, community or social enterprise sectors is highly valued because you'll be working in environments where stakeholder relationships, organisational purpose and long-term outcomes are deeply interconnected.
How We Work
The strongest contributors at WhiteBox combine ambition with humility, and expertise with curiosity.
They align without compromise to our values – the bold vision of ‘Moonshot’; the pragmatism of ‘Figure-outable’; the co-creation in ‘Better Together’; and the data drive of ‘Evidence Matters’.
They're intellectually rigorous and commercially minded, but just as comfortable listening as they are leading.
They know that trust is often a prerequisite for transformation.
They ask questions before offering answers.
They are comfortable leading when needed and stepping back when others have the expertise.
And they're motivated by creating lasting impact rather than personal visibility.
Key criteria:
You'll likely thrive in this role if you:
- Have built trusted working relationships with CEOs, executives and operational leaders, helping guide organisations through significant growth, transformation or change initiatives.
- Draw on strong strategy, transformation, commercial or advisory experience developed through consulting, corporate, government, for-purpose or similarly complex environments.
- Have translated ambiguous opportunities into business cases, implementation plans and practical recommendations that have led to measurable organisational outcomes.
- Have led complex workstreams from discovery and analysis through to implementation, successfully balancing stakeholder needs, delivery pressures and organisational realities.
- Are experienced facilitating workshops, executive discussions and decision-making processes that build alignment and move organisations from analysis into action.
- Can demonstrate tangible outcomes you've helped deliver, whether through commercial uplift, organisational transformation, operational improvement, employment outcomes or social impact.
- Understand how change happens in practice, adapting your approach to the context, culture and readiness of each organisation rather than applying a standard consulting playbook.
How to apply:
Your covering letter, with a max 1000 words, should include:
- What's motivating you to apply for this role?
- A brief overview of your experience and how it aligns with the role.
