⭐ Why this role is different

Many analyst roles involve supporting projects from the sidelines.

This role puts you much closer to the work.

You'll contribute directly to projects focused on organisational growth, enterprise development, transformation and employment creation. You'll see how decisions are made, how organisations navigate change, and how evidence can be used to shape meaningful outcomes.

You'll be given responsibility, support and exposure early, working alongside people who are committed to developing capability rather than simply delegating tasks.

💬 Inside WhiteBox

Seven years in, WhiteBox is still building, testing and backing bold ideas.

The team brings together people from consulting, social enterprise, government, community and commercial backgrounds, united by a belief that better employment systems can be built.

People are encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions, learn quickly and contribute ideas regardless of title. The culture values initiative, evidence, collaboration and a willingness to get stuck into complex problems together.

For the right person, it's an opportunity to accelerate your development while contributing to work that matters.

📍 The detail

Full-time, permanent role. Salary competitive for the role's responsibilities.

Remote across Australia's East Coast, with accessibility to Meanjin/Brisbane, Eora/Sydney or Naarm/Melbourne preferred so you can be a connected part of our team and culture.

Occasional travel will be required to support collaboration, learning and the relational nature of our work.

Full Australian working rights are required.

What's involved:

🌏 What you'll be stepping into

WhiteBox is bringing together a team to help disability enterprises grow, evolve and create more opportunities for people with disability through business growth, transformation and innovation.

As an Analyst, you'll be working alongside experienced consultants, transformation leaders and social enterprise practitioners on some of the most complex and interesting challenges facing the sector.

One day you might be researching an emerging market opportunity. The next, analysing commercial performance data, preparing material for a Board discussion or helping develop a business case that could influence the direction of an organisation.

You'll have the opportunity to apply your analytical skills to work with real-world impact, while building experience across strategy, transformation, growth, social enterprise and systems change.

Key criteria:

🌱 The kind of person who succeeds here

You're early in your career, but not at the beginning of it.

You've likely spent a few years in strategy consulting, management consulting, investment banking, transaction advisory, private equity, corporate strategy, economic consulting, policy advisory, or another environment where you've developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

You're comfortable working with data, financial information, research and complex stakeholder environments.

More importantly, you're motivated by understanding how organisations work, how decisions get made, and how strategy translates into action.

You enjoy digging into ambiguous questions, identifying patterns in messy information and helping others make sense of complexity.

You don't need to arrive with deep disability or social enterprise expertise, but you should be genuinely interested in applying your skills to work that creates both commercial and social value.

💡 What you'll bring

We'd love to hear from you if you've:

  • Built your analytical capability through experience in consulting, investment banking, transaction advisory, private equity, corporate strategy, policy, research or a similarly rigorous environment.
  • Conducted research, financial analysis, market assessments, commercial due diligence, strategic reviews or problem-solving work that informed recommendations and decision-making.
  • Synthesised information from multiple sources to identify trends, risks, opportunities and practical recommendations.
  • Worked on complex projects where the answer wasn't immediately obvious and required structured thinking, investigation and sound judgement.
  • Contributed to business cases, investment decisions, strategic plans, transformation initiatives or other projects with measurable outcomes.
  • Produced high-quality work with strong attention to detail while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Are motivated by learning, collaboration and delivering meaningful outcomes, and care more about solving the problem than being the smartest person in the room.
How to apply:

Some of our best work is already underway and some of our most exciting opportunities are still taking shape.

We're building a team for what comes next and are looking for curious, thoughtful and capable people who want to contribute to ambitious work with the potential for significant impact.

If you're looking for work that is intellectually challenging, commercially rigorous and socially meaningful, we'd love to hear from you. We're assessing as we go, so don't delay in getting your application in.

Your covering letter, with a max 1000 words, should include:

  • What's motivating you to apply for this role?
  • A brief overview of your experience and how it aligns with the role.
  • Describe a piece of analysis, research or problem-solving work that directly influenced a strategic decision, business case or organisational outcome. What was the problem, how did you approach the analysis, what insights emerged, and how were your recommendations used?
  • Let us know your ideal hours, salary expectations, availability (including start date or time away), and anything else that helps us understand your fit.

Applications for this role are being assessed by the WhiteBox team directly.

With diversity comes great success. We encourage and celebrate applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people living with disability, LGBTQIA+ community, women, and people re-entering the workforce.
