Ready to channel your knack for detail, drive, and people to help drive gender equality?

Help us drive impact in:
The opportunity:
Why you might love this opp:
What if your knack for detail, drive, and people could help drive gender equality by making the hidden history of women visible?
The team at She Shapes History is rewriting the story of Australia by showing that women have always been at the centre of it. From walking tours to social media content to partnerships with cultural institutions and historic sites to a national travel guide, they’re creating more respect and recognition for women’s contributions. They’re sparking a cultural movement that’s feminist, fearless, and unapologetically ambitious.
Why you might love job:
💜 Scaling stories that stick: Founded in 2021 from one woman’s frustration at how little women’s contributions are respected in Australia, She Shapes History has grown from a single Canberra walking tour to a national social enterprise with tours now in three cities (with so many more on the way!). We’re a deeply feminist team that lives and breathes systems (if that’s you, welcome home) and we know that shaping history will only happen with strong strategy and structure.
🌏 Impact in action: In just four years, almost 10,000 people have walked our tours (with 13% coming back for more!). We’ve been featured in The Guardian, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and Sydney Weekender, and named Traveller’s Best in Travel 2025 in the Change Maker category. Our women’s history travel guide is now on shelves across Australia, and with cultural institutions and museums lining up to activate women’s stories in their collections, your work will fuel the next leap: new city launches and experiences that keep these stories in the spotlight.
🥜 In a nut shell: This role manages the scaffold for people and scale. You’ll be holding the systems and the relationships that let bold ideas land seamlessly. You’re the person who keeps every moving part aligned - from rostering and budgets to new tour launches and logistics - while helping the Founder with global ambitions unlock and operationalise scale. You balance big-picture strategy with day-to-day execution, making sure Guides feel supported, the team runs smoothly, and growth turns into standout experiences.
👥 The human heartbeat: You’re a confident people leader who brings out the best in a diverse team of passionate, brilliant professionals with respect and clarity. Our team of 30+ guides hail from all kinds of backgrounds and experiences; and are the lifeblood of She Shapes History. As we grow to nine cities and 75+ casual staff in the next 18 months, you’ll play a leading role in also scaling our culture. This includes supporting 4+ Lead Guides around the country to develop, inspire and care for their teams by ensuring they’re resourced, rostered, and ready to deliver transformative experiences.
📅 The best kind of juggling act: You’re naturally curious and hands-on; quick to spot problems, faster to test solutions. One week it’s tightening budgets and rosters, the next it’s travelling to coordinate a limited-edition tour with an institutional partner. You’ll close feedback loops, drive efficiencies, and bring financial discipline to ensure resources are used wisely. You’ll thrive on the pace, variety and challenge of keeping operations seamless without losing the spark that makes each tour unforgettable.
💬 A culture you’ll feel: We’re intentionally building a feminist company - showing that care, clarity, and ambition can grow together - and you’ll be at the heart of building this out. Frank and fearless, with trust at the core, you’ll implement SOPs and operationalise & scale systems that support our culture and people to thrive. You’ll run weekly check-ins that build connection and keep learning alive, strengthening a culture of feminist leadership and shared ownership.
🕶️ Your style: Finding the right fit for this purpose-led role is top of mind. Passion and drive matter just as much as experience (we get that this may have been gathered in a non-profit, startup or somewhere else entirely). You’re energised by eclectic personalities, thrive on creative problem-solving, and see travel as part of the adventure — with an appetite to connect with a rapidly growing team and community across cities and towns as we scale.
🗺 Adventure with purpose: This is a five-day role ($75,000 – $85,000 + super), flex on location (ideally Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney) designed for someone who loves making systems hum and people shine. For the right experienced operator, we’re open to a higher salary pro-rated over 32 hours per week.
What's involved:
The balance of work will shift over time but to start:
〰️ 40% People Leadership: Back Lead Guides to bring out the best in their teams. Role model the culture and champion the systems that make guides feel supported and empowered, while ensuring tours stay consistent and high-quality. While you don’t need to be a historian, you believe women’s stories matter and you’re hungry to help put them centre stage.
〰️ 40% Operations and Systems: Keep the national engine running smoothly - from budgets and workflows to policies and reporting; consistent implementation and continuous improvement will be your game. Own the rollout of new tours, activations, and city launches - driving timelines, budgets, and delivery so growth feels bold, smooth, and on brand.
〰️ 20% Business Smarts: Bring a commercial lens to growth. In the context of a fast-scaling feminist organisation, you ask sharp questions, set clear boundaries, and make informed decisions that protect both people and performance. Balance ambition with resources, ensuring every rollout is sustainable, strategic, and aligned with feminist values.
Key criteria:
The kind of expertise and skills you can leverage in this role include:
🌟 Quick to Learn, Faster to Adapt: Drop you into a new system, process, or city launch and you’ll pick it up fast — asking smart questions, testing solutions, and refining as you go. You don’t just adapt, you improve things with every cycle (and low-key love making it all click like Tetris on level ten).
👥 Relational Operator: You lead with both clarity and care. You bring out the best in others, hold people accountable without losing trust, and build respect into every interaction (and yes, you can rally a room faster than a group chat planning a night out).
🎨 Project Manager (Spreadsheet Lover): Deadlines, details, and competing priorities don’t faze you, they light you up! You juggle budgets, rosters, and launches with ease - keeping momentum high and projects running smoothly, with spreadsheets so gorgeous they basically deserve their own gallery wall.
💪🏽 Self-Starter with Business Savvy: You love the detail - rosters, budgets, workflows - and you bring a bias for action. Rostering crunch? Sorted. New system? Rolled out. Tour launch? Prepped. You’re proactive, hands-on, and keep things moving without waiting for a nudge - while knowing efficiency and empathy can co-exist. You bring inclusion with a side of commercial smarts to every decision.
🔥 Mission-Aligned Adventurer: Arts, events, tourism, NFPs, startups — wherever you’ve come from, you’ve carried purpose with you. You’re fired up by the chance to lift women’s histories out of the margins and into the spotlight, and you’ve got the energy to help take that mission national. With a suitcase half-packed and curiosity always switched on, you’re ready for the adventure of scaling a feminist cultural movement.
