The Human Rights Law Centre, a leading national human rights organisation, seeks an experienced Manager of Fundraising and Major Gifts to join our Engagement Team. This is a full-time, ongoing position, based in the Centre’s Naarm/Melbourne or Gadigal/Sydney offices.

The Manager, Fundraising and Major Gifts (FMG) is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major grant-makers and donors to support the Human Rights Law Centre’s priorities and strategy.
The role works autonomously and as part of the Engagement team, reporting to the Director, Engagement. With a focus on developing relationships with existing and new donors, and planning and building a pipeline to sustain financial growth, the Manager, FMG, manages a small team to ensure all contacts are comprehensively and meticulously recorded to ensure continuity of connection at all relevant levels of the organisation.
Key criteria:
Essential:
- 5+ years’ experience in major gift fundraising, with success building strong relationships & achieving growth.
- Proven ability to develop and nurture strategic relationships with major foundations and high net worth individuals using a range of fundraising tactics.
- Superb written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record securing 6 and 7-figure gifts, ambitious financial targets and the proactive solicitation of key supporter prospects at the $100,000+ level.
- Experience designing & implementing successful project-focused campaigns (including capital) to increase project-specific restricted funding & acquiring new donors.
- Experience using and managing a CRM database (ideally Salesforce) and donation platform (ideally Fundraisin).
- Demonstrated experience managing a small team of relationship fundraisers or similar management experience.
- A high degree of emotional intelligence, humility, a growth mindset, can-do attitude, flexibility, sensitivity to cultural differences and gender issues & a willingness to learn about diversity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals.
- Understanding of philanthropic trends, donor motivations and stewardship strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Contribute to a work culture that reflects the human rights values of the Human Rights Law Centre.
