Clean Slate Clinic isn’t your average health service. We’re a clinician-led telehealth service smashing the barriers - geography, cost, stigma - that stop people from accessing alcohol detox and recovery care. With a purpose-driven team, thoughtful technology and expert clinicians, we’re on a mission to make life-changing treatment easier to access from home.

Why you might love this opp:

🏥 Work with a bigger goal: At Clean Slate Clinic, you’ll be part of a team making life-changing recovery care accessible to everyone. We’re not just another telehealth service - you’ll be part of the support crew, the reset button, and the barrier-breaking solution that’s redefining addiction care with expert clinicians, simple tech, and lived experience at the heart.

💛 Values-led leadership: You’ll be joining a values-led team, with the co-founders each bringing highly impactful careers that inform their leadership. The work here is deeply human, grounded in dignity, trust and care, while combining clinical expertise with innovative delivery models the system is only just catching up to.

🌏 Impact in action: In just six years, Clean Slate has gone from idea to scale - supporting 3,000+ people to safely recover from home, partnering with major health insurers including Medibank, Bupa and nib, government programs and expanding into the UK. Add features across ABC, 9News and national media as well as a 2025 Patients Australia Award for Outstanding Digital Health Service, and it’s clear this isn’t fringe healthcare - it’s the future of how recovery works.

🥜 In a nutshell: Payment plans are how many people who couldn’t otherwise afford to detox get through Clean Slate’s door, and you’ll be the finance all-rounder who keeps that model on track. You’ll follow up with clients on payment plans when payments don’t go through, working out arrangements they can stick to. You’ll also bill private health insurers and help keep the books, accounts payable and payroll ticking over.

📅 Your week: Each day opens with the collections report: checking which payments haven’t gone through, where each client is in the follow-up process that comes after, and which replies are waiting. From there, you might be on the phone with a client who’s worried about money, agreeing a payment date they can meet, or noticing that someone is unwell rather than just behind on a payment, and handing over to the clinical team to support them. Between conversations, you’re entering supplier bills and matching insurer remittances against claims. Month end brings insurer invoicing and receivables reporting.

🕶️ Your style: You’re happiest wearing a few hats. When this week’s process becomes last week’s way of doing things, you’re already working out the new version and rolling with it. You move easily between a spreadsheet and a phone call in the same hour, and there’s a quiet thrill in ending the day with your list cleared and every account up to date. After a tough call, you take a breath, log what happened and pick up the next one with the same steadiness.

🧞 What you bring: You might have come from credit control or collections in a bank, or built your skills as a bookkeeper or in a broader finance role at a startup or growing business. Either way, you bring a solid grasp of finance principles, hands-on time in Xero or similar accounting software, and a readiness to pick up the phone. A finance qualification, finished or underway, is a plus, as is experience working remotely. Attitude and an appetite to learn new things count more than any specific degree.

🧩 Finding the right fit starts with being upfront about the work. Many of the people you’ll speak with are in recovery from alcohol dependence, and asking them to pay can be tough. This role needs compassion and fortitude in equal measure: warm enough that every client feels respected, and calm but firm enough to keep a payment plan on track.

📍 The detail: Permanent part-time role, 25+ hours a week, with full-time also on the table for the right person. Salary $85,000 - $95,000 (FTE) + super, pro-rata and depending on experience. Fully remote across Australia, ideally with some time online each weekday to keep client conversations moving. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this is an in-house role rather than a freelance or ABN arrangement. You’ll get ongoing training and support to build your skills. Full permanent Australian working rights required.

What's involved:

The balance of work will shift over time but to start:

〰️ 50% Bookkeeping & Accounts

Keep the books in Clean Slate’s accounting system accurate and current: process supplier invoices, match them to approvals, prepare payment runs and handle supplier queries. Reconcile payment plans so each client’s contracted amount, instalments and balance always line up. Pull together weekly and monthly reporting on what’s owed and collected.

〰️ 35% Billing, Collections & Client Comms

Review the daily collections report and work through follow-ups, handling client replies by phone, email and SMS and agreeing payment arrangements. Lodge private health insurer claims and reconcile what comes back. When something needs escalating, hand it over to the right person or team.

〰️ 15% Payroll & Finance Support

Learn payroll alongside the Financial Controller so you can run it with confidence whenever they’re away. Pitch in on year-end insurer invoicing, keep the procedures you own up to date, and lend a hand on client calls or new finance projects as the team grows.

Key criteria:

💸 Collections Know-How: You’ve worked in credit control, collections or receivables, or had direct money conversations with customers. You’re confident making the call on a payment arrangement within set guidelines, or escalating when the situation calls for it.

📒 Books in Balance: You’ve kept the books for a business, whether as a bookkeeper, accounts officer or finance generalist, and you’ve worked hands-on in Xero or similar accounting software. Your reconciliations tie out, and you understand why each entry matters as well as how to make it.

✅ Done & Dusted: You’ve worked structured processes from start to finish, closing out every step and keeping records so clear that anyone could pick up your work at short notice. You like knowing nothing’s been left hanging, and seeing each task through to done is half the fun.

📞 Calm on the Call: You’ve had difficult money conversations by phone and in writing with people facing illness, hardship or stress. Your emails are clear and kind, your calls stay focused, and people come away feeling at ease and clear on the next steps.

🛠️ Systems Savvy: You’ve picked up new digital tools quickly and connected information across them. Spreadsheets feel like home, and platforms like Stripe, a CRM or insurer claiming portals are familiar or quick to learn.

🧡 Purpose: Values alignment with the team and the broader mission to improve health and wellness support for people experiencing addiction through a unique at-home model of care, delivered by expert clinicians.
