- $215,000 base + 12% superannuation.

What's involved:
The Director of Finance is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping the direction of the entire finance function, from day-to-day operations through to long term planning.
You'll lead the financial strategy and budgeting process, translating business ambition into robust, actionable financial plans that support the organisation's strategic direction.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer you will:
- Coach and develop a capable team while embedding a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement across all finance activities.
- Shape and deliver a forward-looking financial strategy aligned to organisational goals, providing trusted advice, insights and modelling to support key decisions and sustainable growth.
- Partner with executive leaders the ELT and Board, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that lift financial acumen and performance across the organisation.
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting, strong cash and investment management, and best-practice systems, that safeguard organisational assets and enable informed decision-making.
- Champion governance, risk and compliance ensuring rigorous financial controls, adherence to statutory requirements, and effective risk management at Board and Committee level.
Key criteria:
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with CPA/CA accreditation.
- Extensive sector experience – 10+ years in not-for-profit, research or university settings, with strong knowledge of financial governance, compliance and reporting requirements.
- Strategic finance leadership – proven track record leading finance teams in complex organisations, delivering high-level analysis, financial modelling and sound decision-making.
- Influential stakeholder engagement – builds trusted relationships with Boards, executives and partners, communicating complex financial insights clearly and driving collaboration.
- Commercial and values-driven mindset – brings strong problem-solving, negotiation and adaptability, aligning financial strategy with purpose in a changing funding environment.
