The Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation (Firesticks) is a not-for-profit, Indigenous-led organisation supporting regional and Community networks with revitalising and strengthening Indigenous knowledge systems and practices to create positive cultural, social, environmental and economic impact.
Through partnerships and our networks, we support the activation of learning, employment and enterprise pathways to restore healthy and resilient landscapes and Communities across Australia through Indigenous land management practices such as cultural fire
Firesticks is seeking a Community Network – Programs Lead to walk alongside our Community partners and network teams and support the planning, coordination and delivery of Community led programs and projects across Australia.
This role provides leadership and hands on support across all stages of program and project management — including funding development, budgeting, contracts, reporting and evaluation. The Community Network – Programs Lead works closely with Community partners to strengthen autonomy, enable long term regional outcomes and support culturally grounded, Community driven solutions for Country.
What's involved:
Working as part of the Community Network team, this role supports locally based initiatives through Firesticks’ Autonomous Community Hub Strategy, and collaborates with Community partners, practitioners and other stakeholders to activate learning, employment and enterprise pathways grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems and practices.

Essential skills:
- Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully and work effectively with Indigenous peoples and Communities to achieve practical and successful outcomes.
- Strong commitment to the mission and values of Firesticks.
- Strong practical experience in key areas of project management including budget management, contract management, reporting, evaluation and learning.
- Experience in leading, coordinating and working across remote teams and multiple states.
- Demonstrated understanding of Community engagement principles and strategies, with a focus on supporting Community autonomy and Community-led action.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organising skills.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, remote collaboration tools and working effectively to manage project-related information systems.
