Want to use your communications skills to amplify the people and ideas driving change across Australia?
Why us?
Help us drive impact in:
The opportunity:
Why you might love this opp:
We're thrilled to be partnering with the incredible Snow Foundation; a family philanthropic organisation that's known for working alongside bold leaders and initiatives who are tackling some of Australia’s toughest social issues. Whether it's advocating for gender equality, closing the gap in First Nations health, or supporting grassroots social enterprises, they have a rich legacy of embracing innovation and backing the trailblazers who are creating meaningful social change in the community.
🌱 One week it’s a story about two founders who turned a rescued couch into an organisation that rehomes 30 families each week; the next, you’re spotlighting an initiative providing heart scans and education for rheumatic heart disease in Indigenous communities and announcing scholarships that will open university doors for 160 regional students. This is storytelling with purpose, helping the Snow Foundation show what bold, community-led change looks like.
⚡ ️ Impact in action (2024): Over $13M invested in 167 organisations tackling everything from women’s safety and Indigenous health to education access, homelessness, and LGBTIQ+ rights. Snow Foundation is powering diverse solutions that are creating lasting impact across Australia.
✨ As Communications Coordinator, you’ll use your writing, digital and creative strengths to amplify the voices of grassroots organisations, social entrepreneurs and community leaders - while strengthening the profile of a foundation with trust and collaboration at the core. You’ll keep the Foundation’s communications humming — managing socials, newsletters and the website— while contributing to cornerstone projects like the Annual Report.
🕶️ Your style: Maybe you’ve used your love of writing to support a community group, small organisation or project — and seen how clear communication can make a real difference. You write with care and attention to detail, take feedback well, and are skilled at editing and polishing content from teammates or partners. You’re confident using templates, open to learning new approaches, and focused on keeping content clear and engaging.
💬 How they work: Snow is a close-knit, hands-on team of 16 across Sydney and Canberra with a strong sense of drive. They collaborate closely, pitch in where it counts and keep momentum high. Everyone takes ownership of their work and contributes to the Foundation’s ambitious goals. In this role, you’ll work closely with — and be mentored by — the Marketing & Communications Advisor, with clear responsibility for your own projects and room to grow.
⚡ The detail: This role is based at Hub Hyde Park, Darlinghurst, with a hybrid model of 4–5 days a week (Wednesdays and Fridays typically from home). Salary will be aligned with market rates and discussed based on experience. Full working rights in Australia are required.
🧋 Bonus: We know great communicators come from all kinds of backgrounds. Maybe you’ve cut your teeth in volunteering, small teams or community projects — or you’re ready to bring your skills from another sector into purpose-driven work. Either way, we’d love to hear from you.
What's involved:
The balance of work may shift over time but to start:
〰️ 50% Storytelling & Content Creation
Working with Partner Leads to uncover and share the stories at the heart of Snow Foundation’s impact. From preparing bite-sized social posts to in-depth features and video content, you’ll craft and edit pieces that celebrate partners, spotlight their achievements and draw audiences into the Foundation’s mission.
〰️ 40% Brand Communications
Strengthening the Snow Foundation’s voice and profile as a leader in philanthropy and social change. You’ll support key brand and marketing projects - from advocacy letters to government, speech notes, media releases, Annual Report to the website refresh - ensuring every message builds trust, consistency and momentum behind the Foundation’s impact.
〰️ 10% Team Support & Events
Jumping in where it counts - from planning Film Nights to supporting Lead the Way, Snow’s leadership program for for-purpose leaders. Whether it’s coordinating logistics, prepping speakers or keeping the day on track, you bring calm energy and care to make every moment count.
Key criteria:
The kind of expertise and mindset you’ll bring to this role include:
💡 Adaptable and collaborative – Whether it’s jumping in to polish a last-minute speech, shifting priorities when a campaign gains traction, or calmly troubleshooting an event hiccup, you work closely with your manager and teammates to keep things moving. You’re reliable under pressure, take initiative where you can, and communicate clearly every step of the way.
✍️ A way with words – You know how to switch gears: drafting a warm, engaging newsletter one day, tightening an advocacy letter to government the next, or turning partner updates into sharp social posts. Whatever the format, your writing is sharp, compelling and always fit-for-purpose.
🚀 Self-starter energy – You spot what needs doing and make it happen — whether that’s updating the website without being asked, suggesting a new way to share event highlights, or pitching in when deadlines collide. You bring initiative and momentum to the team.
🎨 Design-savvy – You’re confident using Canva and templates to bring ideas to life, and you know when to add your own creative touch — whether that’s a fresh social tile, an event invite or a simple infographic that makes data easy to grasp. You enjoy supporting your manager and team to produce content that looks as good as it reads: polished, purposeful and on brand.
📱 Digitally fluent – You’re comfortable editing content on WordPress, posting on LinkedIn or Instagram, and keeping an eye on what’s landing. If you come across a new tool or platform, you’re quick to learn and eager to experiment. You don’t just post — you track, adapt and use insights to improve.
🧠 Strategic mindset – You’re developing a strong sense of how communications fit into the bigger picture. You’re curious about how a partner story builds reputation, how the Annual Report demonstrates accountability and transparency, and how an advocacy piece can influence change. You think beyond the task at hand and connect detail to purpose.
🌏 Impact-curious – You don’t need to come from philanthropy or fundraising, but you’re values-led and socially aware. If the idea of helping bold ideas grow into lasting change excites you, you’ll thrive here.
