Why you might love this opp:

Period care should be as normal and accessible as toilet paper. It isn’t. Yet.

For nine years, TABOO has built a category-defining social enterprise combining commercial ambition with deep social impact. Through product, partnerships, advocacy, education and community distribution, they’re advancing menstrual justice while helping reshape the systems, stigma and social expectations surrounding menstrual health. Now, they’re looking for a CEO who can help harness the opportunities ahead and lead TABOO through its next chapter of growth. Could it be you?

Why you might love this opportunity:

🩸A category-defining opportunity: Imagine a future where quality period care is as standard in bathrooms as toilet paper or soap. Founded in 2017, TABOO has spent nine years helping make that future a reality - where quality period care is no longer an afterthought, but simply part of how workplaces, public spaces and communities are designed. With commercial opportunities emerging across government procurement, workplace distribution, retail, strategic partnerships and dispensing infrastructure, it's a rare opportunity to help scale a business that's changing both markets and systems.

♻️  Impact in action: Backed early with impact investment by The Wyatt Trust and led by co-founder Eloise Hall - a Westpac Social Change Fellow and EY Impact Entrepreneur of the Year, TABOO is already proving what’s possible when business is leveraged for impact. 170+ Cycle Supply partners and permanent council rollouts already in market. 10,000+ boxes of high quality, 100% organic cotton and plastic free products distributed to 29 community partners supporting First Nations communities, young people and women facing crisis. An Australian-first citizen science menstrual blood study? Just one more example of how TABOO’s open, creative and impact-led culture opens exciting opportunities across commercial growth, women’s health and product innovation.

🥜 In a nutshell: This role sits at the intersection of leadership and execution. You’ll lead across the full breadth of the model: from tenders, strategic partnerships and major contracts to product innovation, community impact, finance, governance and risk; always ensuring commercial growth and mission stay powerfully connected. Working closely with TABOO’s Co-Founder through transition, you’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the business: guiding the team and key contractors, building the commercial engine (i.e. helping more organisations choose TABOO), and strengthening the operational backbone needed for scale. You’ll complement her strengths in vision, advocacy and innovation with the commercial leadership, good judgement and execution needed for TABOO’s next chapter.

📅 Your week: The rhythm is varied, collaborative and highly relational; moving between big-picture strategic thinking and hands-on problem solving. One moment you’re working through commercial opportunities - exploring a high-potential partnership, negotiating contract terms, preparing a tender, or exploring a new channel to expand access. Next, you’re across a stock, logistics or fulfilment challenge, a dispensing unit supplier convo, a board update or a contract that needs a detailed check. You’re in calls with councils, workplaces, government departments, community partners and strategic collaborators. In between, you’re helping the team feel clear, supported and confident, while reading the market to assess which opportunities carry the biggest strategic unlock.

🕶️ Your style: You bring people with you. You're equally comfortable building relationships with commercial partners, government stakeholders and community organisations as you are supporting your own team or a community member through the day-to-day. You communicate calmly and clearly, listen well and create confidence through your actions; finding joy in helping good people do good work, even when the path forward isn't always straightforward. Whether you're mapping out a new partnership, working through an operational challenge or coaching a team member, you have a way of bringing clarity, creating momentum and helping people move forward together.

💬 Inside TABOO: The work at TABOO is big, beautiful, challenging and so very rewarding. A small team with high initiative and accountability leads social impact and sales & customer service, with support from a broader ecosystem of advisors, suppliers, contractors, 3PL and community partners. The culture? Entrepreneurial, optimistic and deeply values-led. Big ideas are taken seriously, creativity is core, and people are trusted to take ownership and make things happen.

💡 What you bring: We get that your experience might come from a range of places - corporate, FMCG, retail, procurement, startups or purpose-led organisations. What matters is the depth of leadership, commercial rigour and operational capability you bring. You’ve likely built, scaled or led teams through growth in contexts where strong commercial thinking, a bias towards action and creative problem solving were balanced with community outcomes. Experience with tenders, major contracts, strategic partnerships or complex stakeholder environments will be highly valuable here. Most importantly, you understand businesses where commercial growth, social change and long-term sustainability all need to work in sync.

📍 The detail: This is a permanent role, ideally full-time, though 0.8 FTE may be considered for the right candidate. TABOO is open to candidates based anywhere in Australia, with occasional domestic travel for team connection, partner meetings and key moments across the business. Some flexibility for after-hours work is helpful. TABOO will provide resources to support your work setup. Applicants must have full Australian working rights.

What's involved:

The balance of work will shift over time but to start:

〰️ 45% Commercial Growth & Strategic Partnerships

Strengthen and grow the commercial engine powering TABOO’s next chapter. You'll consolidate and optimise existing B2B channels while expanding opportunities across government, strategic partnerships and B2C. Success means understanding where barriers to menstrual equity exist, recognising the organisations best placed to help remove them, and building the commercial partnerships that make better access possible at scale.

〰️ 35% Business Management & Scale

Operationalise the business for scale. You’ll quickly build a deep understanding across cashflow, contracts, governance, stock, supply chain, compliance and risk - then implement the systems, structure and operating rhythms needed to support growth over the next few years. If you love understanding how all the moving parts connect - and making them work better - you’ll feel right at home.

〰️ 20% Team & Community Leadership

Lead people well and bring out the best in the team by creating the conditions for confidence, ownership and strong performance. You'll build trusted relationships across the broader TABOO ecosystem, investing in the long-term partnerships that ensure our work is shaped with communities, grounded in lived experience and informed by the expertise of the people closest to the challenge.

Key criteria:

The kind of expertise and skills you can leverage in this role include:

💰 Commercial Builder: You've built the commercial side of a growing organisation. Revenue, partnerships, pricing, contracts, margins, forecasts...and yes, the occasional cashflow headache. Figuring out how to seize a significant opportunity, think clearly about risk, delivery and capacity, and turn a great deal into sustainable growth? You've got stories.

🧩 Systems Builder (Big Dashboard Energy): Growing businesses are your happy place. You get an unreasonable amount of satisfaction from watching a sea of tabs become one beautiful, colour-coded dashboard, a scrappy workaround become a repeatable process, and a leadership team finally have the numbers they need at their fingertips. Whether you've introduced automation, built smarter workflows, sharpened reporting or found a cleaner way of doing things, you love a good efficiency win. Systems, rhythms and continuous improvement aren't chores, they're your love language.

🚀 Builder's Brain: You're energised by building what's needed next. Whether it's teaching yourself a new platform to get a project over the line, experimenting with AI to save hours of admin, designing a new process or creative workaround, you move quickly from "what if?" to "let's try it". You're naturally resourceful, optimistic and always looking for a better way.

💅 Big Picture. Eye for Detail: You've comfortably jumped from a board paper to a tender submission, a pricing model to a product label, or a partnership strategy to the fine print of a contract. You've spotted the detail that changed the outcome, questioned the assumption everyone else accepted, and caught the small things before they became expensive ones. Turns out, you've got the receipts. All of them.

☕️ Digitally Savvy: You collect clever shortcuts the way other people collect coffee mugs. Somewhere along the way you've built the Notion workspace everyone relied on, fixed the Shopify issue before customers noticed, discovered the AI workflow that became team folklore, and quietly shaved hours off workflows without anyone really noticing how. If it helps the business move faster, work smarter or unlock a new opportunity, you're already giving it a crack.

🌸 Proud to Wear the T-Shirt: You've become the unofficial ambassador for a cause before. You've happily talked about it at dinner parties, convinced friends, rallied colleagues and represented work you genuinely believed in. This isn't just a business you'd lead, it's a mission you're ready to champion.
