Why you might love this opp:

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.   Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

In this full-time permanent role, you’ll work as a part of our Strategy and Partnerships team in Melbourne (hybrid or remote arrangements welcome) to help us create lasting change for children everywhere.

What's involved:

You’ll be the engine room — bringing momentum, structure and follow‑through across our tenders. You’ll coordinate the moving parts, craft compelling bids, and win us the funding that creates systemic impact for children and young people. We’re here to back you – we’ll support you to build your capability on high‑value government tenders, deepen your knowledge in the child and youth space, and accelerate your career in business development. Join our high‑achieving, low‑ego team that brings the good vibes while shifting the dial on issues that matter.

You will make a difference by:

  • Owning the coordination and drafting of government and institutional tenders
  • Turning complex service and technical inputs into clear, compelling submissions
  • Driving structured bid processes that keep teams aligned, focused and on track
  • Ensuring bids are compliant, accurate and submitted on time, every time
  • Leading how we capture, review and continuously improve our approach to new business opportunities.
Key criteria:

You’re our engine room. You bring expertise in government tenders, grants or structured bid processes. You’re highly organised, calm under pressure and detail‑oriented — someone who brings order to complexity and follows things through. You build trust quickly with internal stakeholders, chase inputs with confidence, and help teams deliver their best work when it counts. You’re keen to level up in your career and lead this work for us.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated experience (at least 2-5 years) in bid writing, tender writing, proposals, grant writing, submissions, fundraising or business development — what matters most is your ability to turn complex ideas into clear, compelling funding and partnership proposals.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills for government and institutional audiences
  • Strong systems thinking and comfort working with structured processes and timelines
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines
  • A collaborative, proactive approach to working with diverse internal stakeholders
